Barbara Scott is a New England based artist originally from Boston

Barbara Scott’s work focuses on the use of light and shadow, the beauty of nature and the human form. Her pastel and oil paintings feature a realistic quality that bring her landscape, seascape, figurative and portraiture work to life.

“As a painter, I’ve found my inspiration comes from the shapes, lights, colors and moods found in nature, and from observing human subjects. My passion is to bring them alive on the canvas, focusing on images that stir emotions in the viewer. I paint from a classical representational realm, shifting between human subjects and the natural world. The process brings me much joy and satisfaction, as I strive to convey the dialogue and even interpretation shared between light and dark, forms into shapes, a spectrum of colors, and often revealing a special love – water scenes.” 

Barbara Scott’s paintings have been juried in local, regional, national and international shows. She is an award winning painter, and a member of several local art associations including the Pastel Society of America and is a Signature Member with the Pastel Society New Hampshire.
